Much of the work I have for slaves has to do with planning, preparing for and building fully self-sufficient lifeboat cities to escape the collapse of oil-based civilization and perserve important parts of the human tool-technology chain. This is long term risk management for human civilization on Earth. As my Earth slave, the first thing I would make you do is pick a slave company to work for. There are four choices: beer, munotis, history and moso. B E E R. At first, I figured that any future might not be worth it without beer. The beer job involves researching and developing all the skills and make-it-yourself tools for brewing beer. Considering the difficulty of making water-tight wooden barrels and especially smithing barrel hoops to hold them together, perhaps making naturally fermented fruit drinks will be a first step toward perserving beer for future generations. Which fruits? Where to get the seeds and how many plants or trees per person? Since the real goal is beer, we need to plant barley and hops and handle yeast. How much land do we need for planting? And while you are working on that, you might as well figure out the amount of land and what seeds we will need for growing all our own food too. M U N O T I S. A combination of the words "music" and "noticias," the munotis manually operate our communication system as travelling minstrels. Each store in the center of three villages (according to one early idea for city layout), has live music and theatre performance at least one day per week. Munotis are responsible for making their own musical instruments, though some imported, stockpiled metal guitar strings might be worth it until we can make our own. Further, munotis supervise the construction of wooden sailing ships, operate ocean ports and staff and maintain munoti gathering camps midway along routes connecting the cities. H I S T O R Y. This is the job for those that feel like we are living in a history lesson on our way to the future. Looking back from that future however, the product of the history company is to maintain the story of where we come from, including deciding which among all 21st century and earlier artifacts to bring with us to one day help our children understand what happened to the world and how to avoid repeating the mistakes of our ancestors. Meanwhile, the great big history museum we seem to be living in needs held together while we plan our escape to the future. M O S O. Short for misterioso, the moso is really not a slave company of mine but rather my contribution to a spiritual government much larger than the Earth which includes intelligence gathering and analysis and links to fighting forces. Whatever you think of the prospects of demilitarizing the Earth, 'out there' you continuously fight back the chaos just to survive. Choosing to work for the moso can be very rewarding but also extremely difficult and dangerous to your sanity and your soul. If you like to learn about really weird and amazing things, even hope to communicate with real aliens someday, the moso might be for you. Ready to sign-up as my Earth slave?
